Care & Maintenance
Cabinet Care & Maintenance
Your cabinetry is built to be both beautiful and functional for everyday life. With proper care, your cabinets, doors, and finishes will continue to look their best for years to come.
General Cleaning
For routine cleaning, use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and finished surfaces. If needed, use a mild soap diluted with water, then wipe again with a clean damp cloth and dry immediately with a soft towel.
Avoid using abrasive scrubbers, harsh chemicals, bleach-based cleaners, ammonia, waxes, furniture polish, or products containing silicone. These can damage the finish over time.
Protecting the Finish
Cabinet finishes are durable, but they are not indestructible. To help preserve your cabinetry:
Wipe up spills quickly, especially around sinks, dishwashers, coffee makers, and other moisture-prone areas.
Avoid allowing water to sit on cabinet surfaces, doors, drawer fronts, or toe kicks.
Do not hang wet towels over cabinet doors.
Use caution with small appliances that release heat or steam, such as coffee makers, air fryers, crockpots, and toaster ovens. Pull these appliances forward while in use so heat and steam are not directed onto cabinetry.
Avoid placing tape, stickers, or adhesive products on finished surfaces.
Painted Cabinetry
Painted cabinetry may naturally show minor signs of wear over time, especially around high-touch areas such as trash pullouts, sink bases, island corners, and frequently used drawers.
Small nicks, chips, or hairline cracks at joints may occur with normal use and seasonal movement. This is common with wood and painted finishes and is not typically considered a defect.
For best results, clean painted cabinetry gently and avoid excessive scrubbing.
Wood Cabinetry
Natural wood has unique grain patterns, color variations, knots, and character. These are part of the beauty of real wood and should be expected.
Wood may expand and contract with seasonal humidity changes. Maintaining consistent indoor humidity can help reduce movement over time.
MDF Doors
MDF cabinet doors are a great option for painted cabinetry because they provide a smooth, stable surface. Like all painted surfaces, MDF doors should be protected from excessive moisture, impact, and harsh cleaning products.
Avoid prolonged exposure to standing water, especially along edges and profiles..
Interior Cabinets & Shelving
Wipe cabinet interiors and shelves with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Avoid overloading shelves beyond their intended use.
If you have adjustable shelving, make sure shelf pins are fully seated before placing items on the shelf.
Touch-Ups
Over time, small touch-ups may be needed due to normal household use. If you need touch-up paint or have questions about caring for your specific finish, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help guide you.
